The establishment of the Abraham J. Heschel Center for Catholic-Jewish Relations of the Catholic University of Lublin is a realization of the Council's declaration Nostra aetate and the Church's teaching expressed by successive Popes - wrote Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, President of the Polish Bishops' Conference, in a letter on the occasion of the inauguration of the Abraham J. Heschel Center at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.
Fr Kirill Gorbunov on meeting between Pope and Patriarch
(Vatican Radio) Father Kirill Gorbunov, Press Secretary for the Catholic Archdiocese of the Mother of God in Moscow, said on Friday that he believes the upcoming meeting between Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill, the leader of the Russian Orthodox Church, will help take relations “to a new level” between the two Churches. He spoke to Susy Hodges shortly after the announcement that this historic meeting between the two spiritual leaders will take place in Cuba on February 12th.
G-9 meeting: Decentralization and the new dicasteries
(Vatican Radio) The latest meeting of the Council of Cardinals, Pope Francis’ closest advisers, ended on Tuesday. During their meetings, the cardinals discussed the theme of ‘synodality’ and Pope Francis’ call at last year’s Synod of Bishops for the Church to move towards “a healthy decentralization.” The other main item on the agenda was a discussion and approval of the cardinals’ final proposals concerning the two new dicasteries that are being set up within the Roman Curia.

(Vatican Radio) The Benedict XVI Centre for Religion and Society is a new interdisciplinary endeavor designed to create synergy and explore existing connections among the social sciences as these pertain to religion and the study of religion. Founded by St. Mary’s University, Twickenham, with the approval of the Secretariat of State of the Holy See, the Benedict XVI Centre for Religion and Society brings together existing strands of research and seeks to foster new projects with partner researchers and organizations.
Parish priest from El Paso: 'Migrants are not a burden'
(Vatican Radio) Monsignor Arturo Bañuelas serves as parish priest at St Marks’ in El Paso Texas. Living right across the border from Ciudad Juarez, like many others in his diocese, he's involved in the pastoral ministry to migrants. A ministry which goes beyond the physical needs of those who reach El Paso: “ We try to be a family for them while they’re separated from their loved ones, we also celebrate with them most of our cultural traditions, it’s a very rewarding ministry...”

And where like many others on the Texan border he's involved in pastoral ministry to migrants. Veronica Scarisbrick asks him how he views this highly symbolic celebration in a place which has seen so much death and destruction.
