75 years ago, the Warsaw Uprising broke out. For 63 days, the Polish insurgents conducted a heroic and lonely fight with the German army, the aim of which was independent Poland. The Warsaw Uprising was the biggest armed action of the underground in Nazi-occupied Europe. About 18,000 insurgents and 150,000-200,000 civilians died. The insurgents were accompanied by 150 priests, 40 of whom died or were murdered.

150 provincial and general superiors representing active female religious institutes met in Warsaw at the 140th Plenary Assembly of the Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious in Poland. This year’s assembly focused on the matters concerning formation. There are 17,553 Polish active nuns who serve in such areas of ecclesiastical and social life in Poland and abroad as educational work, various forms of youth assistance, catechization and other forms of evangelization, as well as spiritual and material help.
