Nineteen bishops from Poland, including two archbishops (one of them a cardinal nominee), six diocesan bishops, and 13 auxiliary bishops, accompanied the youth attending World Youth Day in Lisbon.

The primary representative of the Polish Bishops’ Conference at World Youth Day in Lisbon was Archbishop Marek Jędraszewski, Metropolitan of Krakow and Vice President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference. Cardinal Nominee, Metropolitan of Łódź Archbishop Grzegorz Ryś also accompanied the young people. Bishop Grzegorz Suchodolski was directly involved in matters concerning World Youth Day and the operations of the WYD National Organizing Office. He serves as the auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Siedlce and is the Chairman of the Polish Bishops’ Conference Council for Youth Pastoral Care.

Others among the 19 bishops from Poland were: bishop of Legnica Andrzej Siemieniewski, bishop of Radom Marek Solarczyk, bishop of Płock Szymon Stułkowski and bishop of Bydgoszcz Krzysztof Włodarczyk, as well as auxiliary bishops: Bishop Adam Bab (Lublin), Bishop Robert Chrząszcz (Cracow), Bishop Marian Florczyk (Kielce), Bishop Jacek Grzybowski (Warsaw-Praga), Bishop Maciej Małyga (Wrocław), Bishop Marek Marczak (Łódź), Bishop Grzegorz Olszowski (Katowice), Bishop Radosław Orchowicz (Gniezno), Bishop Piotr Przyborek (Gdańsk), Bishop Andrzej Przybylski (Częstochowa) and Bishop Piotr Wawrzynek (Legnica), and Bishop Artur Ważny (Tarnów).

The bishops from Poland participated in various events with the Holy Father and young people from all over the world. They also had meetings with youth groups from their respective dioceses. They collaborated with Polish youth to organize the so-called Polish Lisbon, delivered catechesis to a Polish language group in 12 locations in and around Lisbon, and celebrated Mass.
