I ask all people of good will to take care of the lives of unborn children and their mothers, to oppose a culture of exclusion, which deprives the most defenceless and weak persons of their fundamental right – the right to life – wrote the President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda SAC in his statement on respect for human life in the prenatal stage.

The President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference recalled that the Polish Constitution provides every human being with the legal protection of life (art. 38), as well as protects maternity, parenthood, and family (art. 18).

Archbishop Wojda pointed out that unborn children are the most vulnerable and innocent of all human beings. „Abortion also carries risks for women and their loved ones, as well as for society as a whole. It causes serious health risks for women, leading to great long-term suffering for mothers both physically, psychologically, and spiritually” – he stressed. „Pro-abortion propaganda falsely proclaims that it is their free choice and right” – he added.

The President of the Polish Episcopate acknowledged that it is extremely important that „a woman in a difficult situation in life can always count on comprehensive assistance, which both the Church and non-governmental organisations and state institutions have been doing for years”.
