The Church in Poland will renew the Act of Consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is the response of the Polish bishops to the request made to them during the 395th Plenary Assembly in Lidzbark Warmiński by Bishop Vitalii Kryvytskyi SDB of Kiev-Zytomyr.

By the decision of the Polish Episcopate, the Act of Consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary will be renewed in parishes throughout Poland this Saturday, 17 June, on the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, or on Sunday, 18 June, during all Masses.

The request to renew the Act of Consecration was made to the Polish bishops by Bishop Vitalii Kryvytskyi SDB, representing the Roman Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Ukraine, during the 395th Plenary Meeting of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, which took place from 12 to 14 June this year in Lidzbark Warmiński. The Meeting was attended by guests from abroad.

Episcopate News – Bishop Vitalii Kryvytskyi SDB: Please pray fervently…

I asked the church in Poland may pray on 17 June, on the memory day of the Immaculate Heart of May to pray, with the Act of Consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in order to renew the Act which was pronounced last year in June. I addressed the Polish Bishops with this appeal and I ask everyone to pray with this prayer again. I can give testimony that God listens to this prayer and Mary carries our supplication before the throne of the Almighty.

The consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary was called for by the Holy Father Francis to the faithful worldwide, in March last year, following the Russian aggression against Ukraine. The Pope made it during a penitential celebration in St. Peter’s Basilica on 25 March at 5 p.m. On the same day, the papal envoy Cardinal Konrad Krajewski recited the same prayer at Fatima. In communion with the Holy Father, the Act was renewed – in accordance with an appeal by the President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference – by the faithful of the Catholic Church in Poland.

„We, therefore, Mother of God and our Mother, solemnly entrust and consecrate to Your Immaculate Heart ourselves, the Church and all humanity, especially Russia and Ukraine. Accept this act of ours, which we perform with trust and love; grant that wars may cease, and grant peace to the world,” reads the text of the prayer of 25 March 2022, which will be read this Saturday and Sunday in churches.
